Las Vegas, NV : 20-year-old moped driver dead after crashing into car on Monday night, May 11, 2015
A 20-year-old man who crashed into a car while on a moped has died.
According to Las Vegas police, a 2009 Nissan Maxima traveling eastbound on Grand Teton Drive made a turn into the path of the moped at Cimarron Road around 9:30 p.m. Monday.
The moped rider tried to stop by applying the brakes, causing the scooter to fall over and slide into the car.
The driver sustained critical injuries and was transported to UMC Trauma where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The 35-year-old female driver of the Nissan is not suspected of being impaired.
The Clark County coroner will release the name of the young man after his relatives have been notified.
This is the 41st traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas police department's jurisdiction for 2015. The crash is still under investigation.
