Salem, OR : Lincoln City man dies in motorhome crash on Wednesday, 19th October 2016

A Lincoln City man died following a motorhome crash Wednesday night, officials said.

Samuel L. Burke, 68, was travelling south on Highway 97, just north of Redmond, when his motorhome crossed the northbound lanes and drove off the east side of the highway around 6:30 p.m., according to Oregon State Police.

The 36-foot vehicle crashed through several fences and trees before coming to a stop.

Burke was traveling with his wife, Kathleen Burke, 58, and both were taken to St. Charles Redmond medical center.

Burke died of his injuries. The condition of his wife is currently unavailable.

Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Redmond Police Department, Oregon Department of Transportation and Redmond Fire and Rescue assisted Oregon State Police.
