Cocoa, FL : 3 injured after motorcycle crashes during Toy Run in Cocoa on Sunday, December 7, 2014
Three people, including a 2-year-old girl, were injured Sunday after a motorcycle crashed into a crowd during a parade in watching a parade in Cocoa, police said.
A motorcyclist who was riding in the 33rd-annual Abate Toy Run, in Brevard County, was turning south on U.S. 1, from State Road 520, when he failed the make the turn, police said.
He lost control of the motorcycle and struck three people watching the parade on the southwest corner of the intersection, said Barbara Matthews, public information officer for the Cocoa Police Department.
A 44-year-old woman, her 22-year-old daughter, and a 2-year-old girl were all injured in the crash.
The grandmother was taken via ambulance to Wuesthoff Hospital, where she was treated and later released.
The 22-year-old woman was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in critical condition. She is currently in surgery, Matthews said.
The 2-year-old girl was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
The investigation is ongoing, Matthews said. An update is expected Sunday night.
