BELVIDERE, IL : Coroner identifies Belvidere bicyclist killed in collision with van on Wednesday, September 20th 2017
Bicyclist James Day, 53, of Belvidere died Tuesday evening when a Dodge Ram van struck him in the 5400 block of Squaw Prairie Road, Winnebago County Coroner Bill Hintz said in a news release today.
Autopsy results indicate he died from blunt trauma to the chest.
They both were westbound at the time of the crash around 6:40 p.m. about a half mile west of Poplar Grove Road.
An ambulance transported Day to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department will continue its investigation. Toxicology results will be available in about two weeks, Hintz said.
