Lakemoor, IL : Fox Lake man dies after Lakemoor-area motorcycle crash on Thursday, May 26, 2016
A 67-year-old man involved in a motorcycle crash Thursday in the Lakemoor area has died, a Lakemoor police official said Friday.
John Montana, whose last known address was in Fox Lake, died after suffering what fire officials said were serious injuries in a single-motorcycle crash that occurred about 4:30 p.m. on Sullivan Lake Road, just west of Brandenberg Road, Deputy Police Chief George Manis said.
Montana was taken to Centegra Hospital – McHenry and then flown to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Manis did not know exactly when Montana died.
"The only thing we really know is he was westbound on Sullivan Lake Road ... there was a left curve in the roadway, and it appears he basically just went straight," Manis said, adding the Major Crash Assistance Team was called to the scene for further investigation.
There were no witnesses, Manis added, but somebody driving by saw Montana in a ditch and called 911.
Capt. Brent Connelly of the Fox Lake Fire Protection District, which responded to the scene, said the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
Manis said the investigation was being handled by the Cook County Medical Examiner. An official there said the autopsy will be performed Saturday morning.
