28-year-old motorcyclist is dead after a crash in Pasco country

A 28-year-old motorcyclist is dead after a crash Friday evening on State Road 54 in Pasco County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

At 5:52 p.m., a 2010 Hyundai Sonata driven by Carolyn Hilerio, 68, of Lutz was westbound on S.R. 54 preparing to turn left onto Osprey Lane. Meanwhile, a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle driven by Matthew Ray Parrish of Land O’ Lakes was eastbound on S.R. 54 and entering the intersection, FHP said.

The Hyundai turned in front of the motorcycle, which despite an attempt to avoid a crash hit the car’s passenger side. Parrish was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries. He died at the scene, FHP said.

Charges are pending, FHP said.
