Police say an 11-year-old boy is dead and four others are injured after their vehicle hit an ice patch, striking a guardrail and rolling over at least once.
A Lawton police spokesman says the pickup truck on Monday morning was traveling north on Interstate 44 near Lawton when the vehicle hit an icy spot on a bridge. The spokesman says the driver then lost control of the truck and hit a guardrail.
The child was ejected from the truck through a side window. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The boy's mother was driving the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. Three other passengers, including a 21-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman and a 3-year-old boy, also were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
