Authorities say four people have been killed and two more injured after a pickup truck turned over and hit a tree on U.S. Highway 701 in Sampson County.
Troopers say the wreck happened around 3 a.m. Sunday south of Garland.
Investigators say the truck appeared to run off the road on the right before turning over and hitting the tree. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
Troopers say the driver of the truck died, along with three other passengers. Another man and a woman were taken to a Fayetteville hospital with serious injuries.
The names of the people involved have not been released.Troopers are investigating what led to the wreck, but say it appears the driver had been drinking alcohol.
