Memphis, TN : Facebook video shows pedestrian critically injured in hit-and-run on October 12016
A person is in critical condition after being hit and left lying in the street, according to police.
The accident happened at the intersection of South Parkway and Driver Street.
Unfortunately, right now investigators have no idea who might have done such a horrible thing, hitting someone at a high speed and leaving them bleeding in the middle of the road.
"It happened like right here," Nyteria Treadwell said as she walked toward South Parkway. "He was lying in the middle of the street."
Nyteria Treadwell lives right near the corner of South Parkway and Driver Street.
She recorded a live Facebook video as first responders arrived. The video is very graphic.
"It was horrible," Treadwell said.
The driver who struck the man didn't stop to help. Police said another driver coming down South Parkway had to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting the man lying unconscious on the road. According to investigators, they haven't spoke to any eye witnesses who saw the accident, and they don't have any suspects.
"It's just sad. They didn't stop and say 'are you OK?'" Treadwell said. "They didn't call an ambulance."
Treadwell said people often cross South Parkway without using the crosswalk, but normally there isn't a problem getting across the street.
"This is my first time seeing somebody get hit on South Parkway. South Parkway is a busy street though," she said.
At last check, the victim was still in critical condition.
