A serious crash involving two vehicles in Plainfield sent at least six people to the hospital Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The crash occurred near Putnam Avenue and Richmond Street around 4:15 p.m., Plainfield Police Director Carl Riley said in a statement.
Six people, who ranged in ages from mid-twenties to mid-fifties, were injured and taken to area hospitals for treatment, according to the statement. One person suffered facial trauma and another was being treated for what police described as a serious leg injury.
Officers with the Plainfield police traffic unit were investigating the wreck.
One person was extricated from the crash, a fire department spokesman said. Ambulances from Union County were called to transport some of the patients.
