RAPID CITY, SD : A 37-year-old man is dead after crash on May, Saturday 6th 2017

A 37-year-old man is dead after crashing his motorcycle into a pickup in western South Dakota.

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety says the motorcyclist was eastbound and trying to pass a van in a no-passing zone on Nemo Road near Rapid City late Saturday afternoon when he collided with a Ford pickup that was westbound.

The motorcyclist died at the scene. Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet.

The pickup driver and his passenger were not hurt. Both were wearing seat belts.

The name of the cyclist was not immediately released. The South Dakota Highway patrol is investigating.
