Police say a speeding pickup truck collided with more than a dozen vehicles in a south Seattle neighborhood, injuring 10 people.
Two adults were taken to a hospital with what were described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Eight other people, including two children, were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The Seattle Times reports that police say the 70-year-old driver of the pickup was booked into King County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault.
Officers say the truck was traveling at 60 to 70 mph on Rainier Avenue South shortly before 5 p.m. Friday when it hit about 15 vehicles, nine of which were occupied. Assistant Police Chief Nick Metz says Capt. John Hayes was driving an unmarked patrol car, which was hit. Hayes, who was not seriously hurt, was able to arrest the pickup's male driver.
South of Seattle on Friday evening, seven people were hurt in a four-car crash in Gig Harbor while six people were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries after a multi-vehicle crash in Tacoma.
