Kissimmee, FL : Palm Bay man struck and killed by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 192 by Hibiscus Road in Osceola County on Thursday, May 7, 2015

The search is on for a driver who struck and killed a 57-year-old man while he was changing a tire on his vehicle Thursday night in Osceola County.

Gerald Watson, of Palm Bay, was changing a tire on his Volkswagen Passat around 7:25 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 192 and Hibiscus Road, in Osceola County.

An unknown vehicle that was traveling in the outside lane of westbound U.S. 192 struck Watson, who was thrown about 50 feet onto the grass shoulder. The fleeing car never struck the Passat.
The driver of the unknown vehicle never stopped, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Watson's wife was in the Passat, but wasn't able to see what vehicle struck her husband and then drove off.

The crash remains under investigation, and troopers said charges are pending.
