MANSFIELD, MA : A fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-95 on Saturday, July 15, 2017

Massachusetts State Police responded to a fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-95 northbound in Mansfield just before 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Officials confirmed one person has died.

A tractor-trailer was pulled over in the breakdown lane due to a flat tire when a pick-up truck hit the back of the trailer. The pickup truck immediately caught fire after hitting the trailer.

Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer, a 56-year-old Rhode Island resident, suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment.

Primarily investigation by State Police revealed the pickup truck driver, who was the only person in the truck, was driving in the breakdown lane the crash occurred.

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Officials have not yet identified the the drivers involved.

State Police are investigating the incident.
