Inverness , FL : 54 Years old Pedestrian struck and killed at South Bea Avenue south of State Road 44 on Saturday night , January 17th 2015
A pedestrian was struck and killed on South Bea Avenue south of State Road 44 in Inverness Saturday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The pedestrian was identified as Charles L. Osterland III, 54, of Inverness.
A 1999 Ford F-250 driven by William H. Wallen II, 44, also of Inverness, was traveling northbound on South Bea Avenue south of SR-44 shortly after 7 p.m. when he spotted Osterland in the northbound lane on South Bea Avenue, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. The Ford tried unsuccessfully to avoid the pedestrian.
Osterland was thrown onto the east grassy shoulder of the road and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The Ford pickup stopped on the scene after the crash, which is under investigation.
