GREENFIELD, WI :One man died in a crash on I-894 in Greenfield on Friday, September 1, 2017

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said it responded a call at 9:35 p.m. that a vehicle had driven into a ditch on I-43 eastbound at South 51st Street.

The Sheriff's Office said the Greenfield Fire Department extricated the victim from the vehicle.

Cory W. Polakowski, age 26, of Milwaukee, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Witnesses said Polakowski had been traveling at a high rate of speed while

passing other vehicles, abruptly attempted to change lanes and lost control of
the vehicle.

Deputies had to shut down all eastbound lanes for several hours overnight, but everything was back open by the morning.
