Pierce County, MN : Minnesota residents injured in motorcycle crash in the town of Oak Grove on Sunday, April 3, 2016
A 35-year-old Minnesota motorcyclist and his passenger were hospitalized Sunday after a motorcycle crash in the town of Oak Grove that allegedly involved alcohol.
The victims, identified by the Pierce County Sheriff's Office as driver Esa Bay, of Newport, Minn., and his passenger, 25-year-old Cottage Grove, Minn., resident Meghan McGahn, were taken by ambulance to Regions Hospital for their injuries. The extent of their injuries was not listed.
Deputies were called at 2:03 p.m. to Highway 35 near 1220th Street for a motorcycle crash. Both riders were found to be thrown from the motorcycle.
Deputies said witnesses reported seeing the motorcycle, a 1998 Harley-Davidson, headed south on Highway 35, where it was allegedly passing vehicles in a no-passing zone. The motorcycle was seen drifting off the road into the opposite ditch, where it crashed.
Bay was cited for OWI after the crash.
Neither rider's condition was immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
Officers were assisted by Prescott police, Prescott firefighters and River Falls EMS.
