Sarasota, FL : Two hurt in three-car crash at county line on Saturday, July 29, 2017
Two people sustained serious injuries in a three-car crash Saturday afternoon at the intersection of University Parkway and Lockwood Ridge Road, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.
According to the highway patrol, Conella Jean Genser, 66, of Bradenton was driving a 2015 Pontiac Firebird westbound on University Parkway in the center lane and failed to stop for a red light at Lockwood Ridge Road. When her car entered the intersection, it struck the front right side of a 2015 Infiniti that was making a left turn onto Lockwood Ridge from the westbound side of University Parkway. The Firebird then also struck the front of a 1995 Chevy Suburban that was stopped at the light in a southbound lane of Lockwood Ridge.
Genser and Joan Foster, 60, of Sarasota, who was driving the Infiniti, were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Lakewood Ranch Hospital with serious injuries. Douglas Thermond, 66, of Bradenton, who was driving the Suburban, was unhurt.
