Kokomo, IN : Two were injured in a three-vehicle accident at Intersection of Hoffer and Union streets On Monday, June 13th, 2016
A three-vehicle accident, including a school bus with five students on board, left two with injuries Monday.
Police responded to the accident at approximately 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of Hoffer and Union streets. Lither Ailor, 69, Peru, was driving south on Union Street when she reached the stop sign at the Hoffer Street intersection.
According to the Kokomo Police Department accident report, Ailor thought the intersection was a four-way stop, and that a vehicle traveling west on Hoffer Street, driven by Kenneth Collins, 39, Kokomo, was going to stop at the intersection.
Ailor went through the intersection and struck the rear passenger side of Collins’ vehicle as he drove past, causing his car to swerve and strike the front driver’s side of a Kokomo School Corp. bus that was stopped at the Union Street stop sign
preparing to turn onto Hoffer Street.
According to the crash report, Ailor left her vehicle to make sure that everyone was alright, and was so upset by the accident that she fainted in the street.
The driver of the school bus, Lorraine Ellis, 57, Kokomo, was treated after saying she had arm pain, and a 15-year-old female student was treated on the scene after saying she had pain to the back of her head.
