Woodland, CA : Four injured in a head-on collision between two vehicles at head-on collision On Tuessday, May 10th, 2016
A head-on collision left the occupants of two vehicles trapped until they could be extricated but otherwise they were reported to have escaped major injuries.
The Tuesday car crash occurred around 7 a.m. on County Road 102 just north of CR-16, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reported that Cynthia Scott, 61, of Knights Landing, was driving a 1999 Chevy Blazer that was traveling south on CR-102 at between 55- and 66 mph. Meanwhile, Sacramento motorist, Bounnhan Phetsikhio, 63, was traveling north on
CR-102, at around the same speed in a 2000 Toyota Tundra pickup. Inside the vehicle with Phetsikhio were two passengers, Mone Saiyalad, 65, and Phanh Phetsikhio, 55, also both of Sacramento.
Apparently Bounnhan overtook a vehicle on northbound CR-102 and attempted to avoid a collision by swerving into the southbound traffic lane of CR-102.
In swerving into southbound traffic, however, Bounnhan didn’t see Scott’s vehicle and collided head-on with her.
All occupants had to be extricated from their vehicles by Woodland firefighters and other on-scene emergency rescue personnel, including a Yolo County sheriff’s deputy.
The four people involved were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. Scott went to the UC Davis Medical Center with lacerations and complaining of pain, while Bounnhan went to Sutter Davis complaining of pain. Both Saiyalad and Phanh
were taken to Woodland Memorial Hospital complaining of pain.
