Leavenworth, KS : Driver killed in head-on collision south of Tonganoxie on Monday, September 26, 2016

A woman was killed as a result of a head-on collision south of Tonganoxie, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 5:19 p.m. Monday on U.S. 24-40 west of 243rd Street.

Austin M. Rose, 32, Eudora, was driving east in a 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 pickup. Authorities believe the vehicle crossed a double yellow line in the center of the roadway, resulting in the head-on collision, according to the KHP.

The other vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet Equinox, was driven by Kelly Fowler, 51, Lawrence.

Fowler died as a result of the crash, according to the report.

Rose was injured in the crash and he was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas.

Two girls, ages 16 and 1, were passengers in Fowler’s vehicle. They had possible injuries following the crash, but the report does not indicate whether they were taken to the hospital.
