A Bothell man injured in a car-motorcycle accident Friday has died, the Washington State Patrol reported Sunday.

Jeffrey D. Messing, 50, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the Friday afternooon accident.

He was slowing down his motorcycle on the I-405 exit ramp to Highway 527 when he was struck from behind by a car driven by a Bothell woman, 34, the State Patrol said. She was not injured.

The accident, which occurred around 1:45 p.m. Friday, remains under investigation, a State Patrol memo said.

Troopers listed “following too close” as the preliminary cause, the memo said.
