A driver whose car struck a highway guardrail and bounced across lanes of traffic before hitting a wall died early Saturday morning, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol said a 30-year-old man, who was not immediately identified, was driving a 1994 Acura and was not wearing his seat belt when the crash occurred.
The driver was traveling through cold, dark and rainy conditions down the Interstate 280 south connector to southbound Highway 101 just before 5:25 a.m. when, for reasons that weren't immediately clear, he lost control of the vehicle,
the CHP said. The Acura veered to the left, across a median and struck a wood and metal guardrail, causing the vehicle to bounce back across two lanes of traffic and into a concrete retaining wall.
