Seattle ,WA : 31-year-old motorcyclist killed after head-on crash with a vehicle on wednesday june 10th 2015
A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning in a head-on crash with a vehicle in downtown Seattle, the State Patrol confirmed.
Seattle Fire Department medics were called at 10:45 a.m. to the Fifth Avenue and Columbia Street express lanes off-ramp, where the crash occurred.
The 31-year-old motorcyclist entered the express lane tunnel while traveling north on Columbia Street, headed in the wrong direction, as the express lanes were designated for southbound travel at the time, according to State Patrol reports.
The motorcycle driver, identified as Matthew H. James of Mountlake Terrace, hit a Mercedes SUV occupied by a pair of Edmonds residents.
Medics took James to the hospital and performed ongoing CPR, but he died at the hospital, according to Seattle Fire and State Patrol reports.
The Mercedes occupants were not injured. James wore a U.S. Department of Transportation-compliant helmet, according to the State Patrol.
