A man was killed early Friday when an out-of-control van crashed into his car on U.S. 33 near Hildebrand Road, according to police. The name of the man killed in the crash was not released as of press time, but authorities say he lived in Fort Wayne. Allen County Sheriff’s Department deputies report that at about 3:18 a.m., they were dispatched to the crash site, where they found the driver of the car was dead. The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a van pulling a trailer was headed south on U.S. 33 and went off the roadw, the Sheriff’s Department said. That driver, who is from South Carolina, then overcorrected and went across the center line into oncoming traffic. The van then T-boned the victim's car, which was northbound on U.S. 33.
