Punta Gorda, FL : 55-year-old man died in a single vehicle crash on Oil Well Road on Wednesday night, April 1, 2015

A 55-year-old Punta Gorda man died after losing control on Oil Well Road in Punta Gorda late Wednesday night.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Jerry Lee Bailey was approaching the intersection of Bass Road in a Chevy Silverado when the vehicle went off road.

Troopers say Bailey then over-corrected - causing the vehicle to flip. He was ejected from the vehicle and it landed on its roof.

Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol results are pending.
