Sacramento, CA : A driver died and three passengers were hurt on Sunday, August 20, 2017

A driver died and three passengers were hurt when their SUV veered off south state Route 125 and into a tree in Chula Vista Sunday evening, a fire official said.

Emergency crews found the crashed Toyota Sequoia down an embankment north of H Street about 4:55 p.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Jake Sanchez said.The driver, a 42-year-old man, died before he could be taken to a hospital. Firefighters pulled three of his family members from the wreckage, and they were taken to trauma centers with moderate injuries, Sanchez said.

Officers are still investigating what led to the crash. It does not appear any other vehicles were involved.
