Columbus, N.M : 12-year-old boy killed in Luna County crash on Tuesday night, July 19, 2016

Authorities say a 12-year-old boy was killed when a pickup overturned on a road in Luna County in southern New Mexico after the 15-year-old lost control of the vehicle.

New Mexico State Police say the Tuesday night crash in Columbus remains under investigation but that alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Police identified the boy killed as Joel Horning Newswanger. The girl who was driving the pickup was injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.
