BULLHEAD CITY, AZ : A California man was killed on Friday, June 16, 2017

A California man was killed Friday afternoon in a personal watercraft collision on the Colorado River near Bullhead Community Park, police have announced.

William Osegueda Jr., of Hesperia, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses, Osegueda, 18, was northbound in the middle of the river at around 3:30 p.m., when he was struck by a 16-year-old Missouri boy operating another craft.

No citations were issued. The accident is still under investigation, police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said Saturday.

The city council in May approved an ordinance requiring people renting personal watercraft in Bullhead City to verify that they have viewed a nine-minute safety video.

The boy whose craft struck Osegueda’s was operating a rental craft, Fromelt said. It isn’t known whether anyone signed off to acknowledge having seen the video.

Osegueda was riding a privately owned watercraft, Fromelt said.
