Allentown, PA : Upper Mount Bethel man, 22, dies in motorcycle crash with truck in Plainfield Township Wednesday August 31, 2016
A 22-year-old Upper Mount Bethel Township motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning south of Pen Argyl when he crashed head-on into a dump truck, authorities said.
Anthony J. Policelli ran into the tri-axle truck at 10 a.m. in the 1600 block of Pen Argyl Road in Plainfield Township, about a half-mile south of Mill Road, Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek said.
Moving at "a high rate of speed," the motorcycle crossed the center line and collided with the dump truck, Lysek said. Policelli, of the 1200 block of Bangor Court, died of multiple blunt-force trauma, according to the coroner, who ruled the death accidental.
Police, paramedics, a fire rescue crew and a deputy coroner were dispatched immediately after the crash. Policelli, a 2011 graduate of Bangor Area High School, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorcycle had severe fire damage. The dump truck, which has a Scheuermann Excavating logo on each door, had a twisted driver's side front wheel.
The crash happened on a Pen Argyl Road curve between the Achenbach and Pippin farms.
