YORK COUNTY, SC : One person was killed in a crash in Lake Wylie on Monday, August 28, 2017

One person was killed in a crash in Lake Wylie Monday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The single-vehicle wreck happened at 12:40 p.m. on Hamilton Ferry Road in the River Hills Plantation subdivision. Troopers say the victim was driving a 2001 Honda sedan heading south on Hamilton Ferry Rd when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials say the victim was wearing a seat belt.

There were no passengers in the vehicle with the driver.

Troopers say the crash is still under investigation.
