Loveland,CO : Loveland police pursuit ends in four arrests, crash on I-25 south of Colo. 119 on April, wednesday 19th 2017

Loveland police officers chased suspects in a reported robbery down Interstate 25 and made four arrests after the pursuit ended in a crash Wednesday evening.

The accident occurred around 5:15 p.m. on southbound I-25 south of Colo. 119, and two Loveland police vehicles were damaged, a press release from Sgt. Jeff Pyle of Loveland Police Department said.

Both northbound and southbound interstate traffic was blocked for about 45 minutes as police responded to the incident, Colorado Department of Transportation notifications indicate.

Pyle's press release said LPD received notice of a robbery that took place at the Zumiez store at 5897 Sky Pond Drive around 4:50 p.m.

The caller who reported the robbery said the suspect claimed to have a gun and stole clothing before exiting through the back of the store and leaving in a black Honda Civic with three other individuals, according to the release.

An LPD officer reportedly saw the suspect vehicle driving on I-25 near mile marker 254, and attempted to make a traffic stop but the Honda Civic's driver failed to yield.

Two attempts at stopping the suspect vehicle with a tactical vehicle contact in which an officer bumps the back of a vehicle in a pursuit were made by LPD officers before a third attempt was successful in halting the car, the release said.

No injuries occurred to the four arrestees or any other drivers during the police chase.

Another press release from Matt Turner of the Weld County Sheriff's Office said its deputies received notice of the chase entering Weld County, and they assisted in making the arrests.

The identities of the individuals arrested have not been released because formal charges against each of them are pending, the press release indicated.

LPD detectives were still on the scene of the accident as of 7 p.m., according to Pyle's release, and the investigation is still in its early stages.
