Woman critically injured, traffic snarled after semi crash Near Federal Way Washington

A woman was critically injured and traffic was snarled Wednesday evening when a semi-truck carrying a full load of resin crashed into a minivan on I-5 near Federal Way.The crash happened just before 7 p.m. on northbound I-5 near State Route 18.

A 56-year-old woman was heading northbound when her minivan broke down in lane two. She called police, but before Washington State Patrol troopers could get to the woman a semi truck crashed into the van, according to WSP.
The crash sent the 20,000-pound load of sticky, white resin into the intestate, and troopers say the mess won't be cleaned up until early Thursday morning.
The resin, which troopers say is similar to glue, is non-toxic. However, officials from the state Department of Ecology are monitoring the clean-up.

In the meantime, four lanes of northbound I-5 were left impassible and traffic was backed up up for miles.
The woman driving the minivan was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life threatening injuries and the man driving the semi was uninjured, according to troopers.
Troopers say there is no indication the truck driver was speeding or under the influence.
