Kent State student killed in Alabama accident

A two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon claimed the life of a Parma, Ohio, man and injured four others.The crash occurred on I-65 northbound.

Joseph J. Marino, 23, was killed when the 2001 Ford Escape that he was a passenger in collided with a 2002 Freightliner driven by John Purifoy of Ashville.
Marino was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Marino died today from his injuries at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. Purifoy was not injured. The driver of the Ford Escape was Nader Hassen, 22.
