A fire rescue vehicle was involved in a collision involving two other vehicles Thursday morning.
Officers responded about 8:30 a.m. to the intersection of West Mountain Street and Nandina Lane, police said in a news release. The fire rescue vehicle was trying to make a left turn from West Mountain onto Nandina Lane. A 2007 Jeep Compass SUV had stopped behind the vehicle. A 2005 Nissan Murano SUV collided with the rear of the Jeep, forcing it into the fire rescue vehicle.
The driver of the SUV was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem with moderate injuries.
The Jeep driver refused treatment for minor injuries, police said.
The fire rescue vehicle was not responding to an emergency call. No one in the vehicle was injured.
The police department's Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating.
