Jacksonville, FL : 2 school buses crash in Sandalwood on Tuesday morning, January 10, 2017
No students were hurt when two school buses crashed Tuesday morning in Sandalwood, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The accident happened at 7:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of St. Johns Bluff Road, just before Beach Boulevard. According to JFRD, two adults and one child in other vehicles were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
No children were on one bus and about 25 children headed for Douglas Anderson and LaVilla School of the Arts were on the other, but no students were injured.
Police told News4Jax that the driver of a pickup truck hit one of the buses, which then struck an SUV. Officers are still trying to determine when the second bus was hit.
The driver of the pickup and a passenger and child in the SUV were hurt.
About an hour earlier Tuesday, a school bus heading to Atlantic Coast High School with 12 students on board was sideswiped by a pickup truck on Interstate 295 at Old St. Augustine Road. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, there was only minor damage to the bus and no injuries. The red pickup driving north on I-295 after the accident.
