Cicero, NY : Man in critical condition after 2-car crash on county Route 31 near Lake Shore Road Spur on Friday, April 22, 2016
A man was hospitalized in critical condition after he apparently suffered from a medical condition while driving and hit an SUV, the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office said.
The crash occurred at 2:22 p.m. Friday on county Route 31 near Lake Shore Road Spur in the town of Cicero.
Witnesses reported seeing a Hyundai Sonata driving west on Route 31 that drifted onto the shoulder of the road, the sheriff's office said. The car almost hit a pedestrian and then crossed into the east lane of traffic, hitting a Chevrolet SUV and a pole.
Deputies responded to the crash with Cicero firefighters and NAVAC Ambulance.
The sheriff's office identified the driver of the car as Jack Adamo Sr., 66, of Cicero. The driver of the SUV was identified as Deborah Wallace, 52, of Cato.
Adamo was found semi-conscious in his car and rushed by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, the sheriff's office said. Wallace suffered a hand injury. She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.
The sheriff's office said deputies believe Adamo suffered from a medical issue just before the crash, but did not say specifically what that was. He is listed in critical condition.
Deputies are continuing to investigate the crash.
