Sacramento,CA : Unlicensed teen driver crashes at least once, doesn’t remember it on may, Wednesday 31th 2017
A 17-year-old boy, driving without a license, was found sitting in a crashed car in a south Modesto neighborhood Wednesday afternoon. Initially reported as being unresponsive, he fled a short distance on foot when a California Highway Patrol officer arrived on scene.
CHP Officer Christopher Shore said the teen appeared to have had a medical incident and did not remember the crash, which occurred in the area of Eureka Street and Butte Avenue off Crows Landing Road. What he struck was not immediately clear, but the front of the Toyota Corolla he was driving sustained significant front-end damage.
When residents of the 1700 block of Eureka found the youth sitting outside their home in the Corolla, they called 911, about 2:30 p.m. Early reports were that he appeared to have difficulty breathing. Medical responders called to evaluate him said he did not want to go to their ambulance, Shore said.
When the officer arrived, the teen ran down the street and hopped a fence into what turned out to be his mother’s house, Shore said. The youth went into the home, and “his mother and brother contacted me,” the officer said.
The youth agreed to meet with CHP officers and a sheriff’s deputy, who went into the home. They determined he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Shore said. His family agreed to take him to be medically evaluated, the officer said.
Because the teen had no recollection of the crash, Shore said, the CHP was waiting to hear if any possibly related hit-and-run collisions are reported.
