BRADENTON, FL : Bradenton bicyclist dies in accident on Sunday, January 1st 2017

A Bradenton bicyclist died Sunday evening in an accident while riding on U.S. 41, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the report, Ronnie Allen, 46, of Bradenton was riding his bicycle north in the center lane of U.S. 41, just south of Orlando Avenue, around 8 p.m. Sunday. Timothy Wilson, 53, of Bradenton was traveling north on the highway, in the left lane. Reportedly, Allen struck the right side of Wilson's Honda Civic and fell off his bicycle in the center lane.

Daniel Brickey, 59, of Bradenton, who was riding in the center lane behind Allen in his Chevrolette Blazer, was unable to stop in time and ran over Allen.

Allen was fatally injured in the accident. The others involved in the accident were not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
