Akron, OH : Four people injured after a crash on I-76 West near East Avenue on Thursday, March 3, 2016

Authorities say four people were taken to area hospitals after a crash on I-76 West near East Avenue.

The extent of their injuries is unknown.

The accident, which happened around 9 a.m. Thursday, involved three vehicles and a semi.

Akron Police asked drivers to avoid the area after the crash, as delays were extensive with lanes restricted.

As of 10:30 a.m., the backup was approximately 45 minutes.
