Preston, ID : Man killed in head-on collision in Preston on Monday night, January 9, 2017
Idaho State Police say icy road conditions in Preston Monday night led to a crash on U.S. 91 that claimed the life of a 59-year-old man.
Manuel Davila-Martinez of Preston was traveling southbound near 350 East in a 1974 Chevrolet pickup and he apparently lost control of his vehicle on the ice when he attempted to move from the left travel lane into the turn lane.
His truck crossed over into oncoming traffic, striking a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee in a head-on collision.
Four people were transported by ambulance to the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, including Amanda J. Baker of Preston, 34, and a juvenile passenger in her car, who were both wearing seat belts.
Davila-Martinez, and his passenger, 37-year-old Gildardo G. Davila of Preston, were also transported to the hospital, where Davila-Martinez later succumbed to his injuries. Police say neither of the men in the truck were wearing seat belts.
