Russell County, KS : 40-year-old woman killed and two small children in crash on US-281 in central Kansas early Monday, March 7, 2016

A 40-year-old woman was killed and two small children in the car she was driving were reported possibly injured in a one-vehicle crash early Monday in Russell County in central Kansas.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 2 a.m. Monday on US-281 highway, about six miles north of Russell.

The patrol said Rebecca Jean Johnson, of Natoma, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer south on US-281 when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a box culvert and came to rest on its wheels.

Johnson, who was driving the Blazer, was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol said she wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

Two occupants in the Blazer, Vincent Boller, 1, and MaKenzie Boller, 3, both of Natoma, were reported possibly injured and were taken to Wesley Medical Center. Both children were wearing safety restraints.
