Detroit, MI : Woman dies in crash with New Haven on Friday, January, 26th 2018

A 37-year-old woman is dead after a Friday morning crash involving a school bus in Ray Township, police said.

The crash took place about 6:30 a.m., in the area of North Avenue and 28 Mile.

Officials with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Friday afternoon identified the woman as Ray Township resident Teresa Winquest.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said the school bus was carrying two New Haven High School students and one New Haven Middle School student and was traveling south on North Avenue.

Winquest was heading north on North Avenue, in her 2002 silver Buick Century, but crossed over into the southbound lane into the bus’s path, police said.

The woman was the only person in the Buick, and she died at the scene. She was wearing a seat belt.

The children on the bus were not hurt but had to be picked up by their parents.

The driver of the school bus was also wearing a seat belt, and she was transported to an area hospital.

Police are investigating the crash, and have closed North between 27 Mile and 29 Mile but it was expected to open by 12:15 p.m.
