Belen, NM : A single-vehicle crash on Wednesday, October 4, 2017

A Belen man lost his life in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday near Williamsburg, N.M.

New Mexico State Police were called to a vehicle crash on Interstate 25 northbound near mile post 65 at about noon Wednesday.

Officers learned that Gloria Castillo, 74, of Belen, and her husband, Lorenzo Castillo, 75, were traveling north on Interstate 25. She lost control of her 2010 Nissan truck, entered the median and overturned.

Mr. Castillo was unrestrained at the time of the crash and he subsequently ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

Mrs. Castillo was transported by air ambulance to University Medical Center in El Paso for her injuries.

This crash is still under investigation with no further information available.
