Falmouth, ME :Truck rollover shuts I-295 ramp in Falmouth for 8 hours on Wednesday, July 15th 2015

A southbound exit ramp of Interstate 295 in Falmouth was shut down for more than eight hours Wednesday after a tractor-trailer carrying peat moss rolled over and spilled its load on the ramp. The Maine State Police said the accident, which was reported at 7:40 a.m. during the morning commute, forced them to close Exit 10 to allow crews time to clean up the load of peat moss.State police said Exit 10, which allows traffic to exit the Interstate and access shops and businesses along Route 1 in Falmouth, reopened at 4:20 p.m.Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said it is likely that the driver, Marc Besner of Quebec, was going faster than the 25 mph speed limit on the off-ramp.McCausland said there have been numerous truck crashes on that ramp because drivers with loads that shift on the sharply curved ramp were going too fast.
