Trumbull County, OH : Truck crash shuts down I-80 near Girard for 2 hours on Wednesday, June 29, 2016

Interstate 80 westbound near Route 711 in Girard was shut down for about two hours Wednesday after this tanker truck drove off the road and hit a guardrail about 5:15 p.m. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the truck driver, Kenneth Miller, 51, of Ravenna, was driving behind a pickup truck in the right lane. The pickup truck slowed down suddenly and Miller swerved to avoid hitting it, according to an accident report. The semi drove off the road, hitting a guardrail. It then came to rest in the right lane. The tanker was empty, and Miller was not hurt, the patrol said. He was cited for failing to maintain assured clear distance.
