Savannah, GA : Motorcyclist Charles Edward Wright, 48, killed in collision with driver at Ft. Argyle and Snowgreen Roads in Chatham County on Saturday night, February 6, 2016

SCMPD’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV at the intersection of Ft. Argyle and Snowgreen Rd., which claimed the life of a Portal resident Saturday night.

According to police, the wreck happened around 9:45 p.m, and Charles Edward Wright, 48, and Karsyn K. Davis, 20, of Pembroke, were the two individuals involved. Wright was driving a 2004 Honda CRF 70F Dirt Bike at the time of the accident, while Davis was driving a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country.

Both Wright and Davis were traveling west toward Bush Road when Davis’ vehicle struck the back of Wright’s dirt bike, throwing him from his vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police say Wright was not wearing a helmet, and his dirt bike was not equipped with headlights and taillights.

Highway 204 between I-95 and Bush Road was temporarily shut down on Saturday night while police investigated.

No other injuries were reported. This is an ongoing MAIT investigation.
