Washington County , WI : 28- Years old man killed in Crash after he failed to stop for a school bus and struck it from behind along Highway 83 on Tuesday , February 17th 2015
A Hartford man was killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon on State Highway 83 north of County Trunk K.
The Washington County Sheriff's Department said the man, 28, failed to stop for a school bus and struck it from behind. He was the only person in the car.
The bus had its flashing lights activated at the time of the crash.
Three children were passengers on the bus at the time of the crash. A 9-year-old boy, who attends Rossman Elementary School, suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to Hartford Hospital. A 9-year-old girl, who attends Rossman Elementary School, and her sister, a 14-year-old girl who attends Central Middle School, were not hurt.
The bus driver, 54, was not hurt.
The Sheriff's Department said witnesses stated that inattentive driving and excessive speed may have been factors in the crash.
Highway 83 reopened by about 9 p.m.
