A 2-year-old girl was struck and killed by a car in Clarksville Monday evening.

Clarksville police said the accident happened around 5:15 p.m. at East Knollwood Circle near the intersection of Hietts Lane.
The child was transported to the hospital where she died from her injuries.
Jim Fry witnessed the accident.
“When I saw that baby, a 2-year-old child lifeless, and the neighbor across the street checked the pulse,” Fry said. “There was no pulse. The child was white as snow and I knew then.”
Cynthia Doyle tried to find signs of life.
“I was praying that she was just unconscious, but she wasn’t,” she said.
Doyle said her son is just a few months shy of 2 years old.
“As soon as I came back inside, I picked him up and told him how much I loved him,” she said.
Police initially said the accident happened in a private drive, but in a release said it happened on the roadway.
