Sarasota, FL : School bus crash stops traffic on Fruitville on Tuesday, February 14th 2017

A Sarasota Military Academy school bus was struck by a Jeep near the corner of Fruitville Road and Osprey Avenue. There were no students on board the bus and no injuries were reported.

The Jeep was overturned during the crash and police are on the scene. Removal of the school bus by a tow truck was slowed when a tire blew on the bus.

Traffic is still slowed headed west on Fruitville and stopped heading east. Traffic is flowing north and south on Osprey Avenue.

The Sarasota Police Department has reported that the driver of the Jeep has been cited for careless driving.
